Bemerkungen:
Celia took care of the three older Burns children while my father RobertF. Burns, who was bor n at home, was being delivered. My aunt Graceremembers telling Celia she heard a baby cry (a s my father was born).Celia responded "no you didn't" to prevent the three young Burns banshe esfrom invading the delivery room. Celia's daughter Doris Broadfoot also lived with the Burns family onesummer while a teenager. Celia lived as a widow for almost thirty years after the death of herhusband. During this tim e she owned a variety store in Mondovi,Wisconsin.

Obituary for Celia Eliza Tillotson Broadfoot (1858-1933) Celia, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tillotson, was born at Medina,Ohio, on May 28, 1858. Th e family moved to Elsie, Michigan. Mr. Tillotsonwas the first Postmaster there and the plac e was named after hisdaughter, Elsie, the first child born there. Later, the family moved toC rete, Illinois. Miss Celia Tillotson taught school in Illinois and Kansas. She obtainedemployment in a bank i n Enterprise, Kansas, where she met Dr. AlexanderBroadfoot, whom she married in the year 1885 . Dr. and Mrs. Broadfoot madetheir home in Enterprise, where the Doctor practiced his profess ion forseveral years. They then moved to Wisconsin. For a while they were atReeds Landing an d then settled at Independence. In 1894 they came to thiscity, where the Doctor practiced fo r four years. The next four years werespent at Gilmanton and then they finally located in thi s city. Eight children were born to Dr. and Mrs. Broadfoot. One son, James, diedin infancy. The seve n who survive their mother are: Marion, Mrs. BertShryock, of St. Paul, Minnesota; Grace, of M inneapolis, Minnesota;Roscoe, of Wausau; Grover L., of this city; Hibbard E., of New York Cit y;Frances, Mrs. H.R. MacMartin, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Doris, Mrs.W.E. Brobst, of thi s city. On February 14, 1904, Dr. Broadfoot died. Left with the care of sevenchildren, Mrs. Broadfoo t with undaunted spirit devoted her life to theirwelfare. In so doing she made many sacrifice s of which few were aware.The upbringing and education of her children were her constant thou ghtand her children ever gratefully realize that what of good fortune hasbeen theirs they ow e to the care and capacity of their mother. But Mrs. Broadfoot did not confine her activities to her home and herchildren, although the y had the first place in her heart. So long as herhealth and strength permitted, she was an a ctive member of theCongregational church, the Eastern Star, the Woman's Club, the AmericanLeg ion Auxiliary, the Beavers and the Royal Neighbors of America and waswelcome wherever she wen t. Since last August, Mrs. Broadfoot has been in failing health and sincelast October has been c onfined to her bed at the home of her daughter,Mrs. W.E. Brobst, where she made her home. Th e end came peacefully earlyThursday morning, February 9. Funeral services were held Saturdaya fternoon, February 1, at the home of her son, Grover, Rev. WilliamLodwick officiating. Ther e was a large attendance. All the children werepresent. Mrs. Hartwell Halverson and Mrs. W.R . Hardy sang "In TheGarden". There was a beautiful profusion of floral tributes. From Mondovi, the funeral cortege went to Gilmanton, where burial wasmade in the family lot. Besides the children already mentioned, Mrs. Broadfoot is survived bytwelve grandchildren.
