Emigrated from Scotland to upstate New York in 1827 & later moved toHuron Co., Ontario, follo wing the Broadfoot family in 1836. James owneda sawmill on the branch of the Maitlandbank Ri ver in 1851. James & Agnesare buried next to Agnes's mother & siblings in the Harpurhey Cem, Tuckersmith Twp., Huron City, Ontario. James met Agnes while employed as a wright in Anderston, an industrialarea outside Glasgow. Retired to Seaforth in 1875 after wife's death that year.
